A small dairy (5-10 cows), mostly Jersey cows with some Jersey cross. The cows are on all-season native pasture and are moved to a new paddock twice daily. Cows receive no grain and are hand milked (no surge buckets). Milk is strained into glass half-gallon jars (no plastic) provided by the herdshare owners and picked up weekly at the farm. Herdshares are $50/share and bought back at the same price. The monthly maintenance fee is $30/share. There is a small farm store. Other products include chemical-free produce: winter squash and beans, fresh winter carrots, beets, spinach and greens. Home-grown pastured chickens, all organic feed, available beginning in May; contact the farm by email or phone to place an order. The creamery is located on County Rd. 46, half a mile from St. Rt. 7, at the Sow's Ear Farm and Pottery. Pick-up hours are from 7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week, or as arranged. Tours of this holistic, self-sustained farmstead can be arranged by calling the farm between 8:30 am and 8 pm, Monday -Saturday. See other places where you can find products from this farm.
