Facebook: guernseygoodness. Registered Guernseys on irrigated pasture five to six months of the year, spending their days outside and nights in the barn. The pasture grows assorted grasses and red clover. The pastures and hay fields are Certified Organic by Idaho State Department of Agriculture. When not on pasture, the cows are fed Certified Organic grass hay and haylage the farm produces, along with orchard grass/alfalfa hay from a formerly Certified Organic producer (no longer maintains certification due to cost/benefit). The cows are fed Certified Organic no-soy/no-corn grain (Big Sky Organic) at milking time. The main ingredients of the grain are peas, lentils, wheat, and barley. They mix in a Certified Organic vitamin and mineral mix to keep the cows healthy and well-balanced. Their milk is sold at 12 retail stores in North Idaho.
