The milkers are supplemented with non-GMO soy-free 12 percent dairy mix, non-GMO alfalfa pellets, beet pulp, and black oil sunflower seed. They are wormed herbally. Milk is double filtered and quick chilled to below 45°F. Milk is sold in glass containers, $3/quart for the first purchase and $2/quart thereafter with the return of the container for exchange. Bucket List Homestead is a family of eight "living the dream" in Rural Hall, N.C. on their 14-acre farm. They have several A2/A2 Jersey cows giving multiple gallons a day. Their cows are pasture grazed, and they feed alfalfa pellets or grain to their Jerseys during milking time.
Their Jerseys are milked by machine twice a day, and then they strain the milk into plastic milk jugs and refrigerate immediately. Raw milk is $15/gallon. They operate mainly on a herdshare agreement. They are currently taking customers.
They also sell chicken eggs as well as pasture-raised chicken. Herds are fed Chaffhaye made with non-GMO alfalfa, pesticide and herbicide free hay, pasture that is managed with permaculture principles and organic grain at milking. The are also offered a mineral bar with 22 individual minerals for them to choose from.
The cow herd is made up of Jersey cows. The small goat herd is made up of Lamancha, Alpine, Nigerian Dwarf, Mini Alpine and Mini Lamanchas. In addition to the above listed feed, the goat herd gets a guided tour through the forest, weather permitting, where they can choose what fresh greens they need in their diet that day.
