Raw cow milk and homemade yogurt from Normande cows. All cows are DNA tested to only carry the A2 milk protein. Cows graze on irrigated meadow and ranch pasture in summer and are fed grass/alfalfa hay raised right on the ranch. Grain ration is rolled barley with flax and black oil sunflower seed. Cows are given free choice mineral and salt. Cows are tested for TB, Brucellosis and Johnes. Milk quality is tested several times a year for somatic cell count, MUN and components such a butterfat and protein. Milk is filtered and quickly chilled in a cold water bath. Sold in glass half gallon jars, $5/half gallon. The breeding schedule of cows is staggered to allow milk availability year-round. Milk can be picked up at the ranch in Leiter, or is available in Buffalo, Gillette, and Sheridan. Other delivery locations in surrounding areas can be discussed. They have a micro-dairy milking a small Jersey herd. Herd is on mainly silvopasture with open pasture available, high-quality alfalfa hay and fresh water available at all times. If a cow needs grain to gain weight, it is soaked, sprouted and fermented first. Cows are never enclosed unless they choose to rest in the barn by the fan during times of high heat. Cows are milked twice daily using a closed milking system. Chrissy Jensen is the creator of My Dairy Fairy: Udder Magic which is an essential oil and plant oil based antibiotic-free product for dairy cows. They utilize this antibiotic-free method of supporting their cows' immune systems in lieu of traditional practices. Goats: Nubian, Mini-Nubian, Lamancha, Mini-Lamancha, Nigerian Dwarfs They range on 15 acres of irrigated Tifton/Bermuda grass at all times. Free choice hay as well. They receive black oil sunflower seeds, alfalfa pellets, beet pulp, barley brewers grains, and sprouted wheat at the milk stand every evening. Also receive free choice kelp and minerals. All animals are TB, Brucellosis, CAE, and Johnes-free. Vet-tested yearly. Dairy offers half gallon jugs of raw milk by contract, for farm pick-up. Fresh or frozen. At milking time, cows are fed fodder grass grown from organic barley seed; no pesticides nor GMOs used. Cows have been tested and qualify for the A2/A2 genetics. Milk is $10/gallon, $5/half gallon. Also available: raw milk from A2/A1 cows, who receive a scoop of supplemental non-soy grain at milking time, $7/gallon; $3.50/half gallon. They keep the grain to a minimumvery light supplementation in spring and summer, more in fall and winter. Bucket milkers are broken down to the smallest part after each milking, then scrubbed and washed thoroughly with mild dish liquid; no harsh chemicals or acids used. During hand milking the does are fed whole oats and barley, organic kelp and brewer's yeast. They use herbal dewormers, no chemicals or antibiotics used.
