"At our small, family-run farm, we are committed to raising Jersey cows with care, integrity, and regenerative principles. Each decision we make — from rotational grazing to soil management — is rooted in respect for the land and the animals that sustain it.

Our herdshare program allows local families to invest directly in our cows and, in return, receive a portion of the fresh, farm-produced milk they provide. This model helps ensure quality, transparency, and a direct connection between the farmer and the families we serve.

We believe in responsible stewardship, ethical animal care, and producing real food that nourishes both body and community. Our goal is to create a system that gives back — to the soil, the animals, and the people who trust us to feed their families.

Small Jersey dairy herd, small Scottish Highland beef herd, Icelandic sheep herd, alpacas, free-range poultry, chickens, ducks, geese and guinea fowl, all out on pasture, and bees. Farm uses rotational grazing. Herdshares available. No hormones, antibiotics, or steroids used. They use aromatherapy with the animals. Although the farm is not organic, they adhere to natural practices and don't sell anything they don't eat themselves. See other places where you can find products from this farm.

Benson Shady Valley Farm's cows are on pasture spring and summer and have hay during the winter. They are also given a molasses and mineral pellet at milking time. Cows are currently A1/A2 and A2/A2, with a goal of having only A2/A2 in the future.

Farmer's statement: "We used to be a commercial dairy, but decided to go back to the basics and provide a clean, safe, and delicious product to our community. Our farm has been in our family since 1947, and with the herd share we hope to remain in the community for generations to come."

They offer dairy herdshares with whole, unprocessed milk. They also raise Heritage Berkshire pigs, broiler chickens, New Zealand/Californian cross rabbit and Angus cross beef. Free range Hyline hens complete the farm animals. All their livestock is supplemented with a non-GMO grain when pasture or foraging isn't available and they are all naturally raised without the use of hormones, steroids or chemicals. They also offer Heritage Berkshire pork shares - call for current pricing and availability. Spring/Summer Broiler chickens are $3.75/lb with an average weight of 6-8 lbs. Meat rabbits are $6/lb dressed. Chicken eggs are $3/dz. No-spray seasonal fruit and vegetables are offered such as peaches at $35/half bushel (2016 pricing), multi varietel grapes at $15/half bushel (2016 pricing), tomatoes, peppers, kale, squash - summer and winter, brussels sprouts, beets, cucumbers, cabbage, etc. All of the fruits and vegetables are naturally grown without the use of any harsh chemicals. Blossom Ridge Farm & Dairy is located just 25 miles north of Grand Rapids; everything is on-farm pick up. As demand for delivery grows, convenient drop-off points will be added.
