Important Notes about the Listings | How to Add, Update, or Remove a Listing

If you are a FARMER, HERD SHARE/BUYING CLUB COORDINATOR, etc., who wants to be listed on this site, update an existing listing, or remove a listing, please follow the instructions below.

If you are a CUSTOMER who wants to suggest a new listing, please ask the farmer to contact us. We want the farmer’s permission and knowledge because being listed here can often create more demand than they can supply. Some farmers may also prefer NOT to be on this website. Thank you!

New Listings

1. Address an email to webmaster at realmilk dot com or click this email link: NEW LISTING.

2. Put New Real Milk Listing in the subject line.

3. In the body of the email, include as much of the following information, in the following order, as you are willing to share publicly. More information helps people make better decisions and reduces the number of questions you have to answer when people contact you.

STATE (please don’t forget the state!)
County/City: Farm Name, Farmer(s) Name, Address, City, ST, Zip. Phone: (123) 456-7890, Email: name@domain.com, Web: www.domain.com, Facebook: www.facebook.com/pagename. Types of animals, herd management and feeding practices. Products, sample prices (especially for fluid milk). Any additional driving directions, farm store hours, hours for phone calls, whether tours are available, etc. Any additional notes such as presence at local farmers markets, delivery options, etc.

Helpful hints on writing your listing: We receive so many listings and updates that it would help immensely if you would:

• Write in the third person (“they” not “we”)
• Refrain from “marketing” language (anything about the freshness or deliciousness of the products, anything about the emotional state of the animals, etc.) I must rewrite your listing if these things are included. We are offering objective, factual information, not advertising or unverifiable or subjective information.
• Write the information in a paragraph, not a list. It should look just like the example above or like a current listing on this site.
• Please proofread what you’ve written.
• The goal is for us to be able to cut and paste from the email into the web page with as little editing and formatting as possible, to save MUCH time, so try to look at what you’ve written from that perspective. Thank you so much!

Update a Listing

1. Address an email to webmaster at realmilk dot com or click this email link: UPDATE LISTING.

2. Put Real Milk Listing Update in the subject line.

3. In the body of the email, identify your current listing, INCLUDING THE STATE, COUNTY, CITY AND FARM NAME, and explain what should be changed.

4. Send…and then please be patient. You’ll get an automatic response saying your email was received. Listings are typically updated on weekends, and not necessarily every weekend–keeping this website (and westonaprice.org) updated is a part-time pursuit. Thanks for your patience!

Remove a Listing

1. Address an email to webmaster at realmilk dot com or click this email link: REMOVE LISTING.

2. Put REMOVE REAL MILK LISTING in the subject line.

3. In the body of the email, identify your current listing, INCLUDING THE STATE AND CITY, and explain that it should be removed. If you are willing, please tell us why. We are particularly interested to know about government harassment of farmers. By the way, are you a member of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund? For $125/year you can have 24/7 access to a legal hotline and lots of other information and support! Especially important for raw milk farmers!

NOTE: If removal from our site is an urgent matter, such as due to threats or harassment from government agents, please tell us that. Listings are typically updated on weekends, but the webmaster scans emails with REMOVE in the subject line daily looking for emergencies, and takes those down ASAP.
