Echolight raises a disease-free tested herd of ADGA American Alpine dairy goats and a flock of purebred Wyandotte chickens. Milking is performed using a closed milking machine system, and monthly mastitis tests are performed to ensure quality. No vaccines, antibiotics, or chemicals are used in their livestock. Herdshare fees are $35/month for approximately one gallon of milk each week; half and quarter shares are also available. Scheduled tours are welcome and encouraged. Instagram, LaurelHillFarm. Laurel Hill Farm is a small, diverse, completely alternative farm at Spencer Mountain near Charlotte. Specializing in naturally-raised Nubians and raw milk. Raw milk is sold according to North Carolina law for animal consumption only. The milk is hand-milked from their small dairy goat herd fed only organic feed - no animal by-product feed, hormones, or antibiotics used. As each goat is hand milked, the milk is immediately put in an ice water bath and kept cold until strained and bottled. The milk products are sold in glass quart containers for $4/quart plus a $1 jar deposit. Call for seasonal availability of milk, eggs, chèvre, and kefir. Mountain View Farm is located in the North Georgia mountains. The farm offers raw Holstein cow milk for sale that is jugged daily. The cows are fed corn silage from the corn that they have grown. They are also fed crushed corn mixed with cottonseed meal as they are being milked. The cows also graze on grass when they are not being milked. The milk is labeled and sold as pet milk according to Georgia state laws. The milk contains no growth hormones, no antibiotics, no feed additives, or man-made proteins. The milk is filtered and stored at 36 degrees. They offer tours of the farm so that you can see for yourself that the cows are well taken care of. The farm is kept clean and sanitized, and is USDA inspected. The farm has a posted Grade A Milk Producers License issued by Georgia Department of Agriculture. Hours are Mon.-Tues., Thur.- Sat. 10 am-6 pm, closed Wednesday and Sunday. They also offer a variety of seasonal produce. The farm also has farm-raised chicken, pork, and beef, including whole chicken legs, thighs, and breasts, sausage, Italian sausage, bratwurst, pork chops, Boston butts, ribs, steaks, hamburger and other meats, as well as Amish butter, cheese, jams and jellies. They milk Guernsey cows that are certified a2a2. They focus on sustainable practices such as grass fed on bio diverse mountain meadows. In the winter they feed hay they put up themselves. The cows are offered organic kelp, medicinal organic herbs, magnesium bicarbonate, and white salt (to minimize iron overload). According to the farmer, "We have a small herd so each cow's health and well being can be catered to, to give her the best life she can have." They also have available homemade herbal salves, herbal tinctures, and fresh medicinal herbs.
For herdshare holders occasionally they have butter, kefir, yogurt, and other milk products.
