Heart's Pasture is a small family farm nestled in the Northern Michigan woods. Farmers Todd and Amanda started raising goats when raw milk became unavailable in their area and they have never looked back. They now enjoy making fresh cheese, yogurt, and homemade ice cream for their family and share the rest via raw milk herdshares. The Nigerian Dwarf goats munch on maple saplings, no-spray local hay, and are fed organic, soy-free grain only when on the milk stand. Goat milk herdshares are available May - October. Farmer's statement: "Our milk is great raw for use with puppies, kittens, animal bottle babies, orphaned livestock, bottle-fed baby goats, etc. and tastes great! Yes our family drinks A LOT of it 🙂
"Jersey milk just tastes better! The reason?? Jersey milk naturally contains a 20% higher amount of butterfat than other breeds' milk. Butterfat = flavor! Products such as milk, butter and ice cream made from Jersey milk will naturally have a creamier, richer flavor.
"Compared to average milk, a glass of Jersey milk has greater nutritional value: 15% to 20% more protein, 15% to 18% more calcium, and 10% to 12% more phosphorous, and also considerably higher levels of an essential vitamin, B12. Whereas other breeds may produce a higher quantity of milk, the Jersey breed by far produces higher quality milk."
